... a telephone operator. I was first on the scene at a fender bender a couple of days ago, and attempted to contact the local police non-emergency number on my cell phone. Good luck -- there is no operator to assist you. Directory assistance connected me overseas and put me on hold, so at the end, I wound up having to dial 911 unnecessarily. Out of curiosity, I called customer service and all they could do was apologize and tell me to call 911. They had no information on how to call an operator. Their web page was no better.
